Do you hear a voice in your head?

I read from somewhere that there are some people who cannot hear a voice in their head at all and I think the reason why might make more sense in relation to the ego (survival aspect of ourselves) that we all have on this earth. An example of this is may be when you’re reading, you hear your voice in your head as you read. Or when you’re thinking, you can hear a voice saying that which you are thinking.

In life, there are those who may be very identified with this survival aspect called the ego and others who are less identified with it. This survival aspect called the ego convinces us that this temporary experience is "reality" in order to help ground us in this given experience by wiring our senses to known causes in this world. When you smack a wasp, you're most likely going to get stung and it most likely will hurt. When you ride a bike and then fall over, you will most likely experience that through your five senses and feel some sort of reactionary pain from that experience.

It doesn't mean that the ego is responsible for someone's individuality because we are before the ego came about. Rather, the ego serves the purpose in compelling the individual to believe that they must do everything in their power to survive. It’s also true there are those who very much have an ego but the pain and suffering they are currently experiencing is considered too unbearable to the point where suicide is seen as a more plausible option than continuing onwards with the intention to survive. It doesn’t mean just because they are suicidal, they no longer have an ego. It means since they have free will, they have the choice to cooperate with the ego’s wishes and survive, or the equal choice to end it, and whatever they choose will happen irregardless of the “ego’s desires.” In this short discourse, we still focus on the ego’s function as a survival aspect of humanity and it’s relation to being able to hear ones voice in the head or not.

If a human did not have an ego (this veil over one's memory of one's true reality and the compelling drive to survive) then one would realize their immortality and wouldn't take this experience as serious as someone who has an ego and because of the ego, truly believes this world and their bodies are "real." I define “real” in terms of eternity. If something follows the path of linear time which is proven by Einstein to be an illusion (temporary), then that thing is temporary, an illusion, and isn't truly real.

So onwards, the ego serves a particular purpose that doesn't have to be necessary in its application beyond the temporary idea of death. Could it still be utilized after we die and leave these bodies? Of course, and in more or less ways than we can imagine. Can we also not experience the ego after death? Of course.

So anyways, there seems to be some people who are more identified with the ego that they can’t separate their truest Self (reality) from the illusive aspect meant to ground them that is temporary (ego) and therefore cannot recognize when it's their own voice, or the voice of the ego. So when certain people say they can’t hear a voice in the head, they are simply on the path to learning and differentiating between what is illusory and temporary and what is real and eternal.

Just like evolution is a process that benefits the individual and overall species but takes time, the time of discovering one's truth will vary based on how identified someone is with their current illusive experience. When people start to realize that they are more than their bodies, their thoughts, their ideas and even the ego, this is when they make a huge evolutionary jump in their awareness that helps them see they are more than the illusion we deem as our current "reality."
